Clearing the Path
The Yoga Way to a Clear & Pleasant Mind: Patañjali, Neuroscience, and Emotion
by Stephen Parker, PsyD
Zoom Meeting
6:00 pm – Guided Meditation
6:30 pm – Book Discussion
Our next book pick is an important work written by Dr. Stephen (Stoma) Parker, a senior faculty member at the Meditation Center in Minneapolis and at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama in Rishikesh, India. Stoma is our dear friend and Guru brother, a frequent visitor to our center, an excellent teacher, and a kind and generous man.
In January we will continue our discussion with chapters 4-7, and will review the remainder of the book over the following two meetings (dates to be determined).
“Stephen Parker has produced a profound explication of the psychological dimension of Yoga from the standpoint of classical Rāja-yoga. I would recommend Clearing the Path for all students of Yoga and meditation who truly aspire to a deeper level of practice.”—David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri), DLitt, director, American Institute of Vedic Studies; author, Yoga and Ayurveda and Vedic Yoga: The Path of the Rishi“Clearing the Path is a “must read” for any sincere and dedicated aspirant of classical Yoga. This grand treatise by Stephen Parker (Stoma) is one of the best ever explorations bringing together ancient and modern perspectives of the mind and mindfulness. It provides integrative and wholesome answers to inquisitive questions about the mind, how to clear away all the hurdles, how to make it our friend, and finally how to go beyond it, thus merging our limited individuality into infinite universality. The Yogic path is very clearly laid out; the rationale is provided in depth. It is now our call to walk the path, the grand path to liberation.”—Yogacharya Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, MD, CYT, chairman, ICYER at Ananda Ashram, Pondicherry, India
