I love you. I do! Want to know why? Because I love me. Love is acceptance; seeing clearly what is, and accepting it. Expanding our hearts to be able to hold all of it. Yoga tells us that freedom lies in giving up attachments and expectations. Swami Rama says, “Love all, exclude none.” But how?!?
This five week series will focus on freeing ourselves up to allow feelings of love and acceptance to become a regular occurance in our lives. We will do this through a bhakti (devotional worship) approach to asana (postures/movement), pranayama (energy/breath work), meditation, prayer and chanting. Bhakti yoga elevates our practice from an exercise, to an offering. It’s a gift that we make with our own little hands, the best we can, with what we have. And then we offer it up with love.
A key aspect of yoga is awareness; paying attention. We will practice paying attention to the body, breath, thoughts, and emotions. Please be prepared to participate. You will get the most out of this class if you commit to practicing at home regularly between weekly gatherings. Keeping a journal is highly recommended. We hope to cultivate a feeling of satsang, a safe community, where all are free to be vulnerable, to share, and to support one another. Each class will have space to ask questions and share our observations of ourselves.
This class is appropriate for beginners and long-time practitioners.
We are aware that the COVID virus is still a concern. We are continuing to monitor the situation and plan to offer the class in person unless governmental authorities forbid it. We will be wearing masks. If you have concerns or questions, please email us at email@example.com.
